A sense of place through travel and Art

My jewelry is created slowly. Each petal and leaf is picked then placed between book pages, where they spends weeks drying to be preserved. Butterfly wings are found on long trails. Rocks and crystals are dug from the earth.  I want my jewelry to showcase peices of nature and the stories behind the this beautiful earth. Each jewlerly piece is inspired by folklore that ties us to the land. From the Victorians with their language of flowers to indigenous teachings of plant medicine my art pieces intend to represent a connection to the natural world. In my life I enjoy being an explorer; moving from place to place and learning every inch of it. I try to pay attention. Some earrings are inspired by the moss conifer forests of coastal Maine; while I have necklaces made of agates dug in dry rugged western Montana. My jewlerly is made to represent that diversity of place and the stories place can hold.
